Noted in the GC Powerlist: Middle East Teams 2018 for her excellent leadership of the EITC (du) legal team, general counsel and senior vice president legal Anneliese Reinhold returns this year for individual mention among the best in-house counsel in the Middle East. Tireless in her work ethic and collaborative in her approach to dealing with internal colleagues, Reinhold has been at heart of what has made du a success since first joining the company in 2005. The innovative approach that Reinhold has taken towards the complicated transaction work she has been required to support has been commented on extremely favourably by nominating sources. Underscoring du legal’s status as a role model in the company’s digital transformation journey, over the past year the team has pioneered innovative technological approaches and combined these with the introduction of a managed legal services model for key non-standard operational contracts, which has enabled the legal team to do more with less in support of the company’s focus on efficiency. Maintaining a laser-like focus on customers (both internal and external) is critical for in-house legal teams in Reinhold’s view, and she has successfully put this into practice within the team with extremely successful results. As the company’s Annual Report noted, ‘This seal of excellence recognises our commitment to customers by providing clearer, simpler information in English across documents on all channels’. Reinhold was instrumental in the successful global launch of the new and ground-breaking Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) In-House Counsel Certification Program which took place in Dubai in 2018, and remains well-tapped into international benchmarks for in-house best practice generally through her role as vice-chairman of the global board of directors of the ACC. In July 2019 her long-standing advocacy of the ideals of good corporate governance was heralded by a hallmark appointment to the Council of the Institute of Directors in the UK. Reinhold also keeps her finger on the pulse of cutting edge developments in the technology sphere as a member of the Investment Committee of Dubai Angel Investors.
