Continuing to set an impeccable standard of in-house legal practise, Ronan Lennon returns to the GC Powerlist: Ireland after his inclusion in 2017 and his team’s inclusion in the GC Powerlist: Ireland Teams 2018. Lennon is the general counsel for the Clanwilliam Group and a member of the Clanwilliam Group executive leadership team. Led by Clanwilliam Group’s CEO, the executive leadership team supports Group companies’ organic business growth through its strategic functions and drive the overall Clanwilliam Group strategy and M&A activity. Clanwilliam Group is an expanding family of businesses committed to healthcare, technology and services. It has 18 businesses with 1,200 employees working across Ireland, the UK, New Zealand, Australia and India. Lennon advises senior management and the board of Clanwilliam in respect of M&A, commercial contracts, litigation, employment, data protection and privacy, technology licencing, general corporate matters and matters that help shape debate around business issues. He is responsible for managing external counsel across multiple jurisdictions whilst continuing to expand the legal department and improve the quality of service by hiring top quality professionals. Since establishing the legal function at Clanwilliam Group, Lennon has reformed and continues to develop the governance and compliance structures of the Group. He previously worked as a corporate and commercial solicitor with a leading Irish law firm. He qualified through The Law Society of Ireland and has been admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in both Ireland and England and Wales. Lennon highlights that, ‘Clanwilliam recently completed a recent refinancing by securing a new €300m debt deal with Alcentra. We understand that the transaction was one of the largest private debt transactions in Europe in 2018’. Similarly he worked on the deals concluded in 2018 with DictateIT, Obsidian, Informatica and Konnect Net.
