Satyaki Banerjee, legal vice president at the company since January 2013, leads a legal team that has been commended for its work on strategic transactions and a business-focused approach in advising the company. Last year the team assumed a leading role in supporting Wipro in its $500m purchase of Appirio, a consultancy focused on cloud services and cloud integration. The timely completion of this deal has been particularly significant to Wipro’s accession into the global cloud services market by becoming the world’s largest cloud transformation practice. In 2017, the team impressed with the swift execution of the sale of Wipro’s EcoEnergy division to Chubb Alba Control Systems for $70m, a deal which is part of the company’s ongoing plan to focus on the core IT market.
