About

In his capacity as head of group intellectual property, antitrust and labour legal affairs at Assicurazioni Generali, one of Italy’s most prestigious companies, Furio Curri leads a team of five outstanding professionals who he describes as being ‘very attentive not only to new trends and challenges related to our job, but also to the human profile of the relationships and circumstances that permit us to benefit from a serene place of work and always assist each other in case of difficulties’. The team has played a significant role is many of the insurance group’s most important cases, including the high profile acquisition of data analysis company My Drive Solutions Ltd, R&D agreements including with a car insurance leader in the US, antitrust investigations and the Generali group’s competition guidelines, Curri also stating that it has a central role in ‘the most important corporate transactions involving Generali and its controlled and/or its affiliated companies’. Able to make an impact not only through individual cases, the team undertake internal projects to serve the business in a global sense. Curri mentions two in particular, the project of health and safety at work across the whole group and the key role played in reshaping Generali’s strategy. Acting as the ‘main reference for the entire group’ on several issues despite their compact size, the team has been crucial in enhancing the control and prosecution of Generali’s trademarks as well as developing a new strategy regarding IP which is now a ‘fundamental component of M&A and other operations’. Despite a challenging environment that throws up risks for the business across several areas, the team is well placed to meet these challenges and the team is ‘familiarising ourselves with techniques that are used to oppose cybercrime’.
