Fiera Milano
Fiera Milano is one of the most important trade fair organisers in Italy and one of the largest in the world, operating in the fields of management and organisation of exhibitions, trade fairs and conferences. The company owns and manages infrastructure in Milan, including some of the largest of its kind in the world, including Fieramilanocity, MiCo and Fieramilano in Rho. Supporting Fiera Milano’s transactions and regulatory matters, the legal function is composed of four lawyers, three senior lawyers and one junior lawyer. The company has retained its importance on an international level, developing the business abroad since 2010, acquiring companies in South Africa, Brazil and China where the legal team was fundamental in these expansive global maneuvers. General counsel Ilaria Cicero reveals that the most significant recent event for the legal team was the sale of the company in China, in which Fiera Milano held 75 percent of shares. Towards the middle of the year they started a dismissal project, which she concedes ‘was quite complicated’ in which they started to sell 75 percent to a partner in Singapore. This involved a grasp of Chinese and Singaporean law and their understanding of the tasks at hand further proved the competency of the team.
