Present in Italy since 1974, Dutch global brewer Heineken owns the well-loved Italian beer brand Birra Moretti and operates six brewing plants in the country. Senior counsel Paolo Martone and Massimiliano De Santis were cited by nominators for their role in handling the company’s legal affairs, as was Tiziano Somaschini, Heineken Italia’s director of legal affairs. The team is involved in a wide range of activities, from advising on M&A, competition law, intellectual property, distribution and supply agreements, and sponsorship and other commercial agreements. They have also contributed to Heineken Italia’s sustainability plan, launched in 2010 and set to conclude in 2020, which will look for ways to reduce the company’s environmental impact. As part of this initiative, it has already managed to produce beer relying entirely on photovoltaic energy produced by 8,000 solar panels.
