Professional baseball organisation, Major League Baseball (MLB) is the oldest of the four major professional sports leagues in the US. Leading its Central America and Caribbean legal operations, legal director Jorge Pérez manages legal teams across the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Haiti and several countries in Latin America. Reporting directly to MLB’s chief legal officer in the US, Pérez and the legal team provide advice across MLB’s baseball operations and international departments in addition to serving as a liaison to the legal teams of the 30 US MLB franchises. The Dominican Republic based team also contribute to the development of the sport in Latin America, a region that has great potential for rapid development. Considered highly skilled professionals, the legal function utilises its vast experience on issues unique to baseball and its global nature.
