Carina Bergfelt is a long-serving legal professional for leading global technology provider SKF, having been with the firm since 1990. Founded in 1907, SKF focuses on the development of new technologies and increasing the productivity of its customers, operating in over 40 industries, specifically in bearings and units, seals, motion technologies, services and lubrication systems. Bergfelt is the leader of the legal department at SKF and is therefore responsible for overseeing all legal and sustainability matters for the business. As part of her role as senior vice president of legal and sustainability, Bergfelt is responsible for implementing all legal and compliance matters, as well as policies involved in the achievement of the firm’s sustainability goals. SKF prides itself on its environmental impact work, and its technologies carry out this focus. For example, in 2017 SKF launched an update to its BlueMon environmental monitoring and mapping system, which will save time and helps users to avoid penalties by automating compliance with planned MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI requirements. Bergfelt uses her considerable experience and leadership to lead the legal department’s efforts to support projects like this one, and is a major part of its subsequent success. She is also a board member of the Association of Exchange Listed Companies and holds an LLM from Lund University.
