Nordic financial services group Nordea has been ably assisted in the execution of its corporate strategy, risk mitigation and compliance affairs by head of group legal Lena Eriksson for almost 30 years. Her huge contribution to the company’s business affairs during this time has included many significant events in the company’s history, perhaps most notably the large number of mergers between a number of different Nordic banks that resulted in the formation of today’s Nordea business. Eriksson was also a key figure in the creation of Nordea’s internal legal department, which she led for several years and in doing so acted as liaison between the legal team and senior company management. Her time coincided with several significant changes in the banking industry as well as at Nordea, particularly the global financial crisis which posed a number of challenges to the bank. Eriksson will facilitate the arrival of Jussi Koskinen, currently vice president and head of global corporate legal at Nokia, who will join Nordea as chief legal officer and will be part of the group’s executive management, beginning his role in September 2018.
