After training as a deputy lawyer at Vinge and Setterwalls and as a notary in a Swedish district court, Jakob Hedén started at Mölnlycke Health Care in 2007 as a senior legal counsel. He worked his way up and in 2010 was promoted to general counsel of the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, and then in 2016 to his current role as executive vice president legal, general counsel. Mölnlycke Health Care is a multinational health care technology and products company based in Gothenburg, but with a global presence. It specialises in wound care, dressings to prevent pressure ulcers, and surgical equipment solutions. Hedén, as executive vice president of legal, is involved in the oversight and management of all legal issues the company faces as well as the operational systems for the legal department. In doing so, he is also involved in the commercial activities of the company making sure any legal matters are dealt with the best legal and commercial acumen. The company announced its takeover of German wound care products company SastoMed, adding new award-winning products to Mölnlycke’s portfolio, a major deal for the company and further evidence of the expansion and quality of service the company has achieved under Hedén’s legal guidance.
