Since 2015, Marie-Louise Heiman has been the senior vice president of group legal affairs and general counsel at Swedish Match, having first joined the company in 1996. Swedish Match is the largest supplier of snus, moist snuff, other tobacco products and lights in Sweden, and more than a third of the company’s profits come from snus and moist snuff. Swedish Match has the goal of creating a cigarette-less world by offering alternative products, and Heiman is part of this process through her oversight of all legal affairs of the company and management of the legal team, particularly in relation to regulations in this highly sensitive industry. She is a member of the group management team and secretary to the board, as her experience within the organisation as well as her outstanding ability to anticipate and mitigate legal and corporate challenge is incredibly valuable in informing strategic corporate decisions. Heiman has amassed extensive experience through her previous positions as vice president of legal affairs, general counsel for northern Europe, legal counsel and, prior to joining Swedish Match, at Fortos, BCP, and Procordia.
