Dag Rehme serves as the chief legal officer at If P&C Insurance Company – the largest non-life insurer in the Nordic and Baltic countries – and is responsible for the direction of all legal matters across the company’s services and locations in the Nordic region and beyond. Currently managing a team of 70 lawyers in total, Rehme has experience working through complicated legal issues involving regulatory affairs and national governments across Europe. Regularly dealing with EU regulations involving head to head competitors, public bids and other issues, Rehme has been a key part in the company’s efforts in dealing with other EU regulations such as Insolvency II and GDPR. He describes the ‘long process to slowly increase ownership in TopDanmark’ – a Danish insurer listed on the Copenhagen stock exchange – as being one of the most notable achievements he has been a part of on behalf of If P&C Insurance Company. He has also made changes to the internal legal team, stating he helped integrate ‘all domestic corporate legal units into one common cross border function that serves the whole group’. Prior to arriving at If P&C Insurance Company as chief legal counsel in 2006, he worked within the in-house legal department of defence and civil security firm Saab, where he negotiated the Gripen fighter aircraft’s complex multibillion dollar contract for the Czech Republic, involving a MAC-clause and materials adverse change clause.
