Veronica Rossi began her career at an international law firm, before working at first with and then for DENSO, as her initial consultant relationship eventually transitioned into her current role of general counsel of the company in 2016. DENSO is a world leading advanced automotive parts manufacturer with its Italian location based in Turin, and in providing comprehensive legal support to the business, Rossi has been involved in many different kinds of transactions. The most important of these was the negotiation of general purchase conditions of crucial customers, which showed her commitment to the integration of the department to work fully inside the business. She has also been involved in some crucial M&A deals and she highlights that ‘the final positive result was possible only working all involved departments together’. Rossi has developed in her role as general counsel in terms of teamwork and leadership, and places a lot of praise in her success at DENSO in the quality of her team. In her position Rossi is keen to take responsibility of accessing the variety of skills at her disposal within her team, occasionally supplementing these by bringing in outside counsel and expertly managing the company’s relationship with them. When explaining her approach to the role, Rossi states she has tried to be ‘more structured inside the department and more open-minded with internal customers. Rules, policy and contracts have to be for the sake of the company, not just cascaded’.
