Isagro operates in the market of agro pharmaceutical products for crop protection on a global level in over 70 countries, carrying out its production activities in five sites; one in India and four in Italy. Leading its Italian legal team is group director legal affairs Laura Tricomi, who joined the company in 2012 as international legal affairs manager and worked her way up to assuming her current role as group director legal affairs in May 2016. Tricomi has brought a strong commitment and vast experience to the department, which although composed of only a legal specialist and herself, is able to support the commercial activity of the entire group while it is experiencing a period of great vivacity and growth in order to be a competitive player in the agrochemical market – an area that is becoming increasingly concentrated. Tricomi served as corporate secretary, attending the board of director’s meetings and shareholder’s meetings, setting up relationships with auditors, shareholders and directors and most importantly supporting the top management of the company to manage and negotiate contracts with banks. ‘Another important aspect that made me grow as a legal professional is the necessity to improve my managerial attitude either in supporting the business of the company and in managing several human resources, dedicating personal resources, time and energy to train collaborators and to motivate and help the team to grow’ says Tricomi. Tricomi continues to manage and negotiate major international and domestic commercial contracts, particularly dealing with the distribution agreements, licensing of trademarks and patents, agency agreements, confidentiality agreements, testing and evaluation, and research agreements. Amongst the many transactions she has led at her time at Isagro, Tricomi worked on the licence agreement signed in December 2016 with American company Suttera under which Isagro granted Suttero the right to use the manufacturing technology developed by Isagro in relation to Sutterra’s formulation containing Deltamethrin, to be purchased exclusively by Isagro and to develop, register, formulate, distribute and market this formulation in several countries in EMEA, Mexico, Argentina and Australia, upon the recognition of an upfront payment of €200,000.
