About

Fadia Mufid Mubarak, the legal counsel and the senior lawyer at GARMCO has been leading the legal team since June 2014. She is an expert on the laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain including commercial companies law, labour law, civil law, dispute resolutions, mediation and arbitration, as well as having professional expertise and experience in corporate governance and board secretarial work. She has led the team through negotiations of business agreements and contractual obligations, handling complex matters involving multiple disciplines and decision making, advising the directors and executives of the company, resolving labour disputes, and providing a continuous legal support to the company’s activities and ensuring the company’s compliance with the applicable laws and regulations. The team includes Eman Essa Jaffar, the corporate affairs administrator, and a newly recruited lawyer joining later this year. Over the past four years, the legal team have made major changes in the company. It established the legal department in GARMCO, improving and strengthening the legal position of the company overall by assuring the company’s compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and the corporate governance requirements in Bahrain. The team has reviewed and negotiated the EPC contract of the new Remelt Cast House project with the contractor and registered and protected the company’s intellectual property, trademark and logos worldwide. The team works on all of the standard contracts of the company as well as company and board committee policy and documentation. The team reviewed the sale of shares and all related legal documents for its subsidiary in Singapore, GARMCO Singapore. Additionally, the team prepared for the implementation of VAT across the Gulf States, developed risk mitigation strategies, and implemented new communications technology, “Zoom” and “needtomeet”. Mubarak says the following about her team: ‘The members of the team have impacted the direction of the legal department effectively through being good team players and sharing commitment to achieving the objectives of the department and appreciating each other’s strengths and worked properly with each other at all time under pressure and faced the challenges’.
