Boasting an impressive first quarter year-on-year profit increase for 2018, Saudi Arabia’s largest bank Al Rajhi has been performing well on the back of both sound investments and the support of an excellent legal team that is among the best in its sector in the Gulf. The team has gone through an important change recently, as former head of legal at Samba Financial Group Omar Almudarra was brought in as chief governance and legal officer in January 2018, aiming to bring his considerable talents to Al Rajhi Bank’s legal department as it looks to achieve even greater efficiency in the future. Other professionals of note within the team include senior legal advisor Salem Basunbol and legal and governance manager Yaser Alorainy, part of a team that punches above its weight given its compact size. Among other projects, the team has been involved in beefing up the company’s computer-assisted facilities management technology, signing a deal with FSI Middle East to supply technology to achieve this.
