What are the most significant cases or transactions you and your team have been involved in?  

We have recently gone through a large initiative to ensure compliance with the recent outsourcing reform in Mexico.  Additionally, we are driving a digital transformation initiative  aimed to increase and enhance  business support and strategic business guidance to our internal clients.  This involves  the implementation of technology, processes optimization and automation  to free up talent resources, that can then focus on high risk and complexity. It also includes a big investment in talent development on hard skills on the job, such as product knowledge and risks, and soft and digital skills, such as Agile  project management methodologies,  data management,  collaboration tools, etc.  All of this in order to enrich the team not only on the legal side but also on the technology side, which aids us to improve support across the different regions and make our work more efficient. The role of the leaders in this transformation has been key in navigating complexities, designing strategies, and influencing stakeholders. Brave managers paired to technologies are the perfect ingredients for a successful organization.    

Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?  

Self-service, CLM, risk management, and automation tools  will bring important and positive changes to in-house legal teams — the sooner we adopt them, the better prepared our teams will be to deal with increasing complexity and workloads.  General counsel should take the lead in bringing change and transformation.
