Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?
I believe AI is, by far, the technological advancement that will impact our activity the most. In-house teams have seen the scope of their role grow, as businesses face increasing regulations. However, the growth of our scope of activity is not usually matched with increased department’s budgets and larger legal teams – AI represents a great solution to this issue.
How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?
To build strong relationships with business partners, in an increasingly digitalised world, the answer is to be physically present for them. We need to create relationships of trust, and those are not achieved automatically – they are the result of teamwork and proximity.
What are the most significant cases or projects you have been involved in recently?
I have been greatly involved with Indra’s growth in Portugal and its expansion into other areas of the country and into new business models (such as the Phygital). At the same time, I am restructuring Indra’s legal department in Italy.
