One of the country’s most talented in-house lawyers in the real estate sector, Samantha Evans is the current general counsel for global industrial property group Goodman in Australia, leading legal support to the company in its business agenda that encompasses ownership, development and management of industrial and commercial real estate.

Evans has been with the company for over 13 years, and in this time has been responsible for all finance, corporate and property related transactions within Goodman’s Australia business unit. Evans was also responsible for implementation of work, health and safety risk management, culture and infrastructure within the Australian business. Oversight of Goodman’s legal team has sharpened Evans’ management skills, which she utilises to provide leadership to a legal function that is concerned with acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, structured development deals, leasing, finance and corporate matters including equity raisings. As well as her remit related to legal affairs, Evans sits on the Australian management team and the safety leadership team, provides extensive support to the company in the area of work health and safety and – further showing her commitment to ethical concerns – chairs the diversity and inclusion committee in Goodman’s Australian business. Evans has over 20 years’ experience as a lawyer and specialised in property, construction and finance transactions whilst in private practice, and before joining Goodman in 2005 she worked with King & Wood Mallesons and Norton Rose.

She holds a Bachelor of Law degree in European Legal Studies from Southampton University and Madrid Complutense University and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Evans is also the chair of one of Goodman Foundation’s charity partners, The Helmsman Project – which provides adventure based coaching to students living in areas experiencing disadvantage.
