Rebecca Hayward serves Fortescue Metals Group as legal, contracts and procurement manager for the iron ore projects division since August 2017 having first joined the company in 2011, bringing years of experience in private practice as a commercial lawyer at Clayton Utz. Fortescue is the world’s fourth largest iron ore producer and operates three integrated iron ore sites in Pilbara, a major port operation – Herb Elliot Port in Port Hedland – and the world’s fastest heavy haul railway in the world.
The company also operates a fleet of eight ore carrier ships and exports its ore all over the globe, with a major presence in the Asian market. Headquartered in Perth, Fortescue has transported one billion tonnes of iron ore over the company’s history as of April 2018. Hayward is praised for her management of the contracts and procurement from a legal perspective and provides her expert guidance through all commercial, regulatory and international trade related matters.
