Joining in November 2016, Anna Lenahan brought her considerable in-house commercial and financial legal experience to the Commonwealth Bank of Australia after working in executive legal positions at Suncorp and in private practice at Allens Arthur, now Allens. She also has experience as a crown prosecutor at the Department of Public Prosecutions in Perth and is admitted to practice in New South Wales and Western Australia.
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia is one of the largest financial services companies in Australia with a global presence through its North American, Asian, New Zealand and European branches. Publicly listed on the ASX 50, the bank has been nominated by the World Bank (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development) to be the sole arranger of a blockchain bond. This is a world first with the bond being created, issued and managed using blockchain technology. Called the AUD$ Kangaroo bond, trade term – “bond-I”, it is being developed in partnership with Northern Trust, QBE and the Treasury Corporation of Victoria and operated on a blockchain by the World Bank and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in Washington and Sydney. This innovative relationship and product offering is a major achievement for the bank, under Lenahan’s legal supervision, and leadership.
