Peter Lorbeer serves as an associate counsel with a remit across the Asia Pacific region for oil and gas behemoth Shell, focused on M&A deal making and other commercial legal matters. Previously recognised for his leadership of Shell Australia’s upstream business, he has broadened his geographical remit to include the entire Asia Pacific region drawing upon his previous experience with Shell in China.
With over 20 years of in-house legal experience at Shell, Lorbeer is an expert in the oil and gas industry with recognised expertise across all commercial legal matters and a strong track record of running effective legal teams and delivering pragmatic legal advice. Lorbeer is involved in orchestrating and handling any legal matters pertaining to Shell’s joint ventures such as the Gorgan Project which involve Chevron, (the operator) ExxonMobil, Osaka Gas, Tokyo Gas and Chubu Electric Power and Arrow Energy involving a 50% interest with PetroChina. His experience and remit across the Asian region makes him well suited to facilitating Shell’s relationships with these companies in these joint ventures.
