With 16 years at the helm of the legal operations at New South Wales (NSW) Ministry of Health as principal legal officer, Blaise Lyons has developed her expertise and is an important figure in NSW government legal departments. Lyons is responsible for all of the legal affairs of the government department of NSW, from employment, contracts, litigation and disputes, and all of the mountainous compliance policy work required in a public sector health setting. Most recently, in the first week of September 2018, her department has overseen the publication of new or amended policy changes for the health department on a range of issues including the management of complaints and concerns about clinicians, managing misconduct, NSW health goods and services procurement, and more. Lyons’ wealth of experience, LLM in health law and dedication to the health service provides her with the motivation and expertise to continue to deliver solid legal guidance to the department she has been leading for more than a decade.
