Stavanger-based utilities concern Lyse is a group of companies in the energy production and distribution sector, with a focus on renewable energy, hydropower, gas and LNG, as well as the telecommunications and broadband market in Norway. Part-owned by a number of the Norwegian municipalities in which it operates, Lyse operates the power grid in a number of areas incusing Stavanger, Sandnes, Sola, Time, Klepp, Hå, Randaberg, Eigersund, Strand, Rennesøy, Hjelmeland, Gjesdal, Finnøy, Lund, Bjerkreim and Kvitsøy. The group supplies fibre networks and services to households and businesses through the Altibox brand, reaching a profit of NOK 1.9bn in 2017 and has over 1,000 employees. Amongst them is a team of highly capable and qualified lawyers that work to safeguard and enhance the company’s business objectives, which have recently seen the company achieve a very healthy net profit of NOK 520m in the first half of 2018. Leif Harald Jensen is the legal director of Lyse, and oversees all legal aspects of the company including the management of the group’s in-house legal professionals. Displaying the regard with which legal professionals within the company are held in by senior management, Jensen holds a number of board appointments in the Lyse Group using his many years of experience as a solicitor in private and public companies to mould the team in the most appropriate way possible to deal with Lyse’s business agenda from a legal standpoint.
