What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Leading the legal department in the continuous growing of new relevant business segment of PCR in Argentina, renewable energies. Nowadays, PCR is one of the most important and relevant companies in this industry in Argentina. In fact, I had to be well informed on the new and continuously changing regulatory framework applicable to our industry, particularly on tax benefits.
Additionally, I have taken part in the financing of many important new projects of the group in these last years, including the wind fields, by means of direct finance transactions or otherwise, through different actions and agreements. Also, the negotiation of joint venture agreements with different potential partners. Also, the opening of new lines of business somehow related to renewable energies in different countries such as the US and Ecuador. Lastly, the selling of our oil and gas investments in Colombia was a complex transaction which I was actively involved in.
Have any new laws, regulations or judicial decisions greatly impacted your company’s business or your legal practice?
In Argentina, it is common to have new laws or regulations with different impacts in many businesses or industries. We are always paying attention to those new rules in order to start legal actions against them. An example is the legal actions that PCR started against 2018´s export duties enacted by the previous government, obtaining so far, many sentences against the government rules.
How do you calculate the value that an external law firm brings to you?
By means of a comprehensive analysis that includes the hourly rate, the expertise in a specific matter, as well as the direct dedication of partners and senior staff.
