The legal team at Swedbank Norge carries out all legal guidance and organisation for the Stockholm-headquartered full service bank’s operations in Norway. In his post since 2014, Thomas Rygg Hannestad is the head of the legal department and leads the legal team with a high level of capability and expertise. With prior experience in property development and commercial law and real estate in private practice at Ro Sommernes with nearly 20 years of experience, he provides excellent leadership to the Norwegian legal section of the bank. The legal team is responsible for legal compliance, financial legal matters, capital markets, and all other matters for the Norwegian arm of the Baltic banking powerhouse. With locations in Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Norway, the corporate business at Swedbank Norge covers a full range of financial services and investments across the Nordic region with operations in the rest of the Nordic countries as well. In 2017, the bank invested in expanding its research department through a strategic partnership with Kepler Cheuvreux to provide clients with broad coverage of Nordic stocks, strengthened the distribution of ECM and execution offerings, this benefitted the Norwegian company and provided a new area of work for its legal department.
