Since its origins which date back over 90 years, Höegh Autoliners has developed into the leading global provider of transportation and logistics services within the Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) segment providing customers with safe and secure deep sea transportation. Following the departure of long serving general counsel Steinar Nyrud in July 2018, the company promoted Maria Hempel to legal the legal team in the position of general counsel to add to her chief compliance officer role. Having joined Höegh in 2012 as legal counsel, Hempel has an extensive knowledge of the company’s operations and has been involved in day-to-day contract reviews and providing internal legal advice on sales and purchases of assets, companies and finance. In addition to this key change, the legal team at the company has grown with new legal counsels, many of whom have strong private practice backgrounds at top Norwegian firms, joining in September 2018. With such developments, the company is set to continue befitting from the investment it has made in its legal function.
