Schibsted
The legal department at Schibsted, the parent company of Schibsted Media Group, currently consists of six lawyers and is led by Jacob Møller, head of legal and M&A. In addition, there are approximately 15 additional lawyers spread across other companies within the group, however, these lawyers do not have hard reporting lines to the legal department in Schibsted. Møller is responsible for legal matters at the group level as well as all M&As in the Schibsted organisation, and is supported by a highly capable separate M&A team. Key members of the legal department include Elin Moen, senior IP and competition counsel responsible for IPR and competition law matters, group privacy officer Ingvild Næss, and head of the group privacy office, and Andreas Ehrenclou, senior legal counsel, who offers M&A and commercial advice and assists in the negotiation of group agreements. Recently, the team has been involved in the splitting of Schibsted shares into two share classes, the establishment of joint ventures with Naspers and Telenor Press Holding for the development of online classified platforms in various markets, and a transaction with Telenor to increase Schibsted’s ownership of OLX Brazil, Yappo Chile and divest its Asian assets. In addition, the work done by the group privacy office in connection with GDPR has been noted within the market as being exemplary and industry-leading. The group privacy office, spearheaded by the aforementioned Næss, is widely recognised both for its legal expertise and its technical understanding, and is an active contributor in the privacy debate in Norway and Europe. Highlighting the legal team’s successes, Ehrenclou says that, ‘we do not aim to have legal expertise within all legal areas, but rather to be able to give the best possible legal advice to Schibsted, by combining legal expertise in key areas with a strong commercial understanding.’
