What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

The legal team has successfully negotiated a significant insurance claim recently. There were many challenges during the review process and this has taken considerable time. However, we have continued to stay on top of the issues with frequent follow-ups and documented the entire process thoroughly. After months of negotiation, the parties finally came to a settlement of the insurance claim. In addition, our legal team also has a major breakthrough in one of our court cases which has been ongoing for a considerable time. This is particularly significant as the laws continue to evolve over the years. I led the team to change our overall strategy to approach this matter in order to achieve a specific outcome.

It is very important to work with external lawyers who align with our company’s values. This includes an appreciation of the corporate culture of Karma Group worldwide, our values and risk tolerance. For example, it is also an integral part of our Karma philosophy to respect and actively support the underprivileged in places in which we are located. A desirable law firm would understand our company’s comprehensive organisation structure and would have done some prior research in relation to the core business of Karma Group. The company operates and has a presence globally, which adds a further layer of complexity and decision-making to ensure we comply with the respective local regulations.
