Miša Vorotović, senior counsel South East Europe, leads the legal department at Philip Morris International (PMI) in Serbia covering Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo markets. PMI acquired DIN Fabrika duvana Niš, Serbia’s largest tobacco factory in 2003, and has since expanded and dominated the market in the region and currently employs approximately 900 people. The legal team is responsible for the smooth handling of the multi-jurisdictional contractual, supply, regulation and compliance matters involved in trading across the Balkans and beyond. The global company has invested over US$800m in its Serbian affiliate, one of the largest investors in Serbia, and its Niš factory is one of the most advanced in all of PMI’s network of factories. PMI Serbia has also invested US$17m in community service projects across Serbia including programs to enable job creation, entrepreneurship, education and science. Initiatives such as these require the stable, expert and comprehensive legal advice the team is known to dispense in close consultation with senior business figures.
