Florian Harms joined Emerson in 2012 as senior legal counsel for EMEA and swiftly worked his way up to assistant general counsel in 2013, and in 2015 to senior associate general counsel Europe. In March 2018 he assumed his current position of director of data protection Europe, where he is now in charge of setting up a European compliance program, largely determined by principles of GDPR, in a global context. For the duration of his time at Emerson he has been in charge of advising the businesses of the Emerson platform of Commercial and Residential Solutions across Europe. He also advised the business of the platform automation solutions in France as well as in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Harms previously worked as a lawyer in private practice at global firms in Paris and Munich. He spent five years serving as attorney at court in Paris for Gide Loyrette Nouel, with a focus on M&A, trademarks and industrial property, unfair competition, compliance and litigation to name a few. Harms also served as an in-house counsel for Media Fund in Munich, working on corporate law matters involving movie production and distribution, as well as film financing.
