Christoph Hiestand joined Swiss multinational private bank Julius Bär in 2001, taking on a number of various legal roles within the bank over the years. Hiestand joined in the capacity of legal counsel and in 2004 was promoted to general counsel corporate center. In 2006 he assumed the position of deputy group general counsel and in 2010 he was promoted to group general counsel and member of the executive board. His role continued to expand, as between November 2017 and March 2018 he served as chief risk officer and member of the executive board. After the 2008 credit crisis, Julius Bär implemented a group-wide task force tasked with systematically broadening the company’s international presence by offering acquisitions and strategic cooperation agreements around the globe, something which Hiestand has been at the heart of. In 2015 and 2016, Hiestand assisted on completing the acquisitions of Leumi Private Bank and Fransad Gestion in Switzerland. Prior to joining Julius Bär, he worked as attorney-at-law at BBLP Meyer Lustenberger.
