Roland Maurhofer is an experienced chief legal officer with a track record of successful management of boards and global legal teams of up to 40 lawyers and paralegals of public, market-leading companies. As the chief legal officer at gategroup, the global leader in airline catering, retail-on-board and hospitality products and services, he focuses on managing and overseeing M&A and large commercial transactions on all continents. He has been accountable for negotiating transactions of up to US$1bn deal value, as well as over US$1.5bn in global commercial partnership agreements. Maurhofer has gained experience in shareholder activism issues, public takeovers, IPOs and private equity processes. He is well-versed in general corporate governance issues related to Swiss public companies as well as a portfolio company of an international Chinese conglomerate, having substantially increased efficiency and effectively of the legal and compliance management system through standardisation and digitalisation. Maurhofer previously served as the group general counsel and corporate secretary for Barry Callebaut Group, the world’s leading chocolate and cocoa manufacturer.
