Chief legal officer and regulatory affairs | IXM
Earlier this year, following a takeover by NCCL Natural Resources Investment Fund, Louis Dreyfus Company Metals changed its name to IXM. In line with this change, Jason Val Podrats took on the role of chief legal officer and regulatory affairs for IXM Group. His journey with the company started back in March 2010 in the capacity of senior legal counsel, where he provided comprehensive legal support for metals and agriculture worldwide supply chains from origination and production, shipping and transportation, to processing and consumption. In 2015 he was promoted to global commercial legal counsel for Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC). In this position he led a team of seven commercial lawyers, to ensure the quality control and uniformity of the provision of commercial legal services across all LDC regions. Podrats has been predominantly tasked with the transaction involving LDC Metals going through a sale to the commodities fund, NCCL. The fund is controlled by CMOC (China Moly) a top fifteen mining company. ‘This transaction and the transaction out of LDC, along with the rebranding of the company to IXM, has been an ongoing project for the last year-and-a-half’, he says. Prior to joining LDC, Podrats worked as an English solicitor for a boutique firm dealing with commodities and dispute issues.
