International lawyer, senior executive and board member, Robert Roeder took up the role of general counsel and company secretary of Ledunfly in 2016. The multibillion-dollar hospitality company operates from a single family office in Switzerland, with a primary focus on the hospitality, sports, retail and wine industries. Roeder works in collaboration with the chief operating officer and is challenged with bringing structure, process, procedures, and best practices into an early stage family office, inherent with a start-up operation. He has created a ‘team-focused, service-orientated, solutions philosophy’ that ensures alignment with the client’s needs: ‘this has been useful in serving as an example, throughout the group as a model for how to operate to advance objectives and ensure client satisfaction’, says Roeder. Using his unique combination of business, legal and strategic skills that can be leveraged across both financial and non-financial service sectors, he has been able to create and lead a strategy for multinational litigation, PR and lobbying that recovered over €1.7bn of expropriated assets in South America. He also co-directed and prepared a listing on the London Stock Exchange – FTSE 250, where he managed advisors and was responsible for structuring management packages and incentives. ‘These experiences allowed me to create the business-orientated and multi-disciplinary approach which I bring to the table to analyse facts and situations, simplify complex matters and provide practical advice and solutions’, says Roeder. Prior to joining Ledunfly he served as general counsel for ACE & Company, a global private equity firm, specialising in direct investments, for four years. As a senior executive, he has created the role of group general counsel and company secretariat for different groups in four countries, serving as strategic advisor to families, CEOs and boards of directors. In the last few years, he spearheaded several private equity and hedge fund launches, an IPO on the LSE, a US$1bn refinancing, multiple international acquisitions, and five joint ventures across five continents.
