Koenraad Van Himbeeck who is the general counsel and vice president of EMEA and North America of Honeywell Transportation Systems has endeavoured to drive his legal team to excellence since joining Honeywell in 2002. Many of his achievements have revolved around the standardisation of processes, and improving the global efficiencies of his team. A prime example of his achievements include working alongside the commercial and engineering team to set up an integral global system to offer Honeywell’s Transportation Systems products. He also went on to organise a global and holistic risk assessment process changing the focus from reactively managing warranty claims to pro-active prevention. In addition, with his team, he ensured that the new Honeywell compliance system was fully integrated into the business. Prior to Honeywell, Van Himbeeck worked for IBM as senior attorney from 1998 until 2002, based in Paris. He was responsible for handling all corporate matters, procurement issues and corporate restructuring for all IBM entities in Belgium and France, while maintaining general responsibility for Belgian legal issues. Before going in-house, Van Himbeeck worked for Covington & Burling, Washington & Brussels and for the De Bandt, Van Hecke & Lagae, (now Linklaters & Alliance) in Brussels.
