Martin Wartmann is a general counsel and chief compliance officer with more than ten years of blended international corporate in-house, private law firm and entrepreneurial experience. Wartmann joined Selecta, a leading vending and coffee services company with a turnover of €740m and employing 4,300 staff, in April 2012 as corporate counsel, to strengthen the in-house corporate team and to provide legal advice to the Group in all areas of corporate law and business law. Within his first year at Selecta he focused on drafting and negotiating company agreements including procurement, sales, IT, R&D and licensing. In 2013 he was promoted to group general counsel, chief compliance officer and company secretary, where he spearheaded a legal department with five team members, served as secretary of the board and reported directly the company CEO. In this role he led six strategic disposals and acquisitions of three competitors including the successful takeover and post-merger integration of major competitor companies. He was also responsible for establishing a Group-wide compliance concept and empowering the Group’s major source of revenue by negotiating and drafting essential cooperation agreements. In January 2018 he assumed his current position as deputy general counsel, in a new corporate management structure after the company doubled in size.
