Antonio Basilio provides Enel Brasil with over 30 years of legal experience including a successful career in private practice, as partner at Gouvêa Vieira Advogados, and extensive in-house experience in the energy sector. He has served as head of legal and corporate affairs at Enel Brasil since 2003 and is a specialist in corporate law, M&A, financial law, operations and contracts generally. In the 1990’s he was involved in the privatisation of many sectors within the electricity industry in Brazil including Enel’s introduction into the Brazilian market. He also assisted in the establishment of Cien, a subsidiary of Enel Brasil, involving complicated cross border negotiations between Brazil and Argentina, and the creation of a thermoelectric plant in Fortaleza. Enel Brasil is an affiliate of the large Italian multinational electricity company Enel Group, which operates in 34 countries supplying 72 million end users. Enel Brasil is the largest private company in the Brazilian energy sector, and is a major supplier of renewable energy.
