Roberto Fontes Federici is general counsel, compliance officer and corporate governance secretary at Norte Energia, in charge of all legal and compliance matters referring to the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Plant. He manages a team of 17 lawyers and has extensive experience advising infrastructure, energy clients and financial institutions on deals in Latin America. He has advised on corporate, financial and regulatory matters related to the energy industry, alternative energy and banking and finance, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, litigation, regulatory affairs, project development, project finance, restructuring of debt and assets and complex contracts. When he joined the company in 2017, Federici orchestrated the reorganisation of the entire legal department, as he says, ‘to focus on high-end litigation and arbitrations, on corporate law as well and refinancing the main debt of the company’. To his role at Norte Energia, Federici brings 20 years of experience stemming from a decade in private practice and numerous roles in senior in-house positions in the energy and educational sectors.
