Since being featured in earlier editions of the GC Powerlist: Brazil, Suzana Fagundes has continued to impress peers whilst developing her professional skills by extending her remit at ArcelorMittal Brasil. As part of the Luxembourg-based multinational steel manufacturing corporation, ArcelorMittal Brasil has been a major player within the Brazilian steel industry for 28 years. Fagundes initially joined the company in 2005 as regional general counsel and compliance officer for Central and South America but having impressed senior management in that role, she was promoted to head of legal, compliance and institutional relations for the region in 2014. In November 2017, Fagundes’ role was expanded again and she now is now vice president of human resources, legal, institutional relations, sustainability and compliance. She leads these functions with cross-jurisdictional expertise, commercial acumen and reliable judgement. Her leadership and longevity make her a highly respected figure in Brazil’s in-house legal market.
