Bertil Majer is the chief legal officer and member of the executive team at Sitecore— a worldwide leader in experience management SaaS. Bertil is globally responsible for all legal affairs, as well as compliance. He reports directly to the CEO.
Appointed chief legal officer at Sitecore in 2021, Bertil Majer is an accomplished lawyer that looks back on a successful 25-year career in tech law with a speciality in significant enterprise software and cloud. Starting as a legal counsel at SAP back in 1999, he held numerous senior leadership roles there for more than 23 years, spanning several countries and geographies within the global legal organisation, including EMEA and Greater China. His risk-based advice on transformation strategy and business development, as well as his significant experience operating in-house legal teams, elevated him to trusted advisor status for many of the firm’s most senior leaders and clients.
Bertil’s ambitious mission as Sitecore’s chief legal officer is to help grow the legal team and scale it globally. The clear aspiration is to develop the most innovative legal team in the industry, providing globally focused, progressive legal support while maintaining world-class compliance and a strong culture of trust. Today, the legal team is pivotal in simplifying contracts by innovating the entire legal customer journey. Bertil has introduced Sitecore legal labs, a protected environment that is fostering constant experimentation and development of new solutions for legal challenges. As a first milestone, the team has recently introduced the new legal hub that serves as a one-stop-shop for terms, providing unparalleled transparency to customers and using state-of-the-art, streamlined legal language that is constantly improved further. Bertil also supports the overall strategic vision of the executive team, as well as M&A endeavours. He holds a Law Degree from Ruprecht-Karls University, Heidelberg, Germany and an Executive MBA from ESSEC, Paris, France.
