Founded in 1802, DuPont is a multinational conglomerate specialising in industrial biosciences, electronics and imaging, nutrition and health, safety and construction, and transportation and advanced polymers. Following its merger with The Dow Chemical Company in 2017, Dupont is now a subsidiary of DowDuPont which has become the world’s largest chemical company in terms of sales. DowDuPont is now moving towards intended separation into industry-leading, publicly traded companies in agriculture, materials science and specialty products. Based in Argentina, Juan Manuel Vaquer is the president and associate general counsel of DuPont for the Latin America region, in charge of a variety of corporate and legal affairs. He joined DuPont Argentina as a lawyer in 1990 and has held various international positions since then. In 1995 he was transferred to Geneva, Switzerland, where he worked as European counsel for business units in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Upon his return to Latin America in 1998, Vaquer was named president of DuPont Chile. After a few more promotions, in 2004 he assumed the vice presidency of legal affairs for Latin America and in January 2008 he was named president of DuPont Southern Cone (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay). In October 2015, he commenced his current position. Apart from his long and impressive tenure at DuPont, Vaquer also serves as the president of the United States Chamber of Commerce in Argentina, a member of the board of CEADS (Council of Argentine Entrepreneurs for Sustainable Development), a member of the executive committee of IDEA (Institute for Business Development of Argentina) and vice president of AACCLA (Association of Chambers of Commerce of the United States to Latin America).
