What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

Huawei Ireland is a company which covers significant portions of the technology landscape including, but not limited to, the carrier market, the enterprise or B2B market and our newest vertical, Digital Power. It is in relation to Huawei Ireland’s Digital Power product sales that the Huawei Ireland Legal team has played a particularly important role. In the past 12 months the legal team has been involved in negotiating two significant data centre product sale agreements together with a number of important solar products sale contracts. The Huawei Ireland legal team’s hard work in relation to the Digital Power product sales has helped position Huawei Ireland at the forefront of Ireland’s drive towards an energy efficient and renewable energy green future.

What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

The Huawei Ireland legal team has had to deal with a quickly growing workload in a legal and compliance environment which is rapidly evolving and becoming more complex. The enactment of a number of amending acts and new acts which directly impact Huawei Ireland’s business required the Huawei Ireland legal team to quickly research and understand new regulatory requirements in order to properly advise colleagues particularly in relation to risk mitigation strategies.

Has the increasing consciousness of climate change and sustainability affected your company and the team’s priorities, and if so how?

Yes, and the focus on energy efficiency and renewable green energy has driven a rapid increase in sales for Huawei Ireland’s Digital Power group, particularly in relation to our PV and battery storage system product. It is clear that the need for sustainability will result in further evolution of the legal landscape which will require the Huawei Ireland legal team to continue to adapt and leverage from technological advancements to streamline Huawei Ireland’s contracting and compliance processes.
