What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

Klas Legal manages the complex regulatory environment within which Klas operates, including export regulations and US procurement regulations. As general counsel, Eoin McManus provides legal advice and negotiates and drafts agreements with major multinational technology corporations. He has also been involved in, and managed international intellectual property litigation, including a patent infringement claim before the US Court of Federal Claims.

As a team, Klas Legal serves as an invaluable addition to the organisation. We manage a myriad of commercial agreements focused on information technology and intellectual property in the US, the EU and Australia, and provide detailed procurement law advice on tenders in multiple jurisdictions, including on supply agreements to SNCF in France. Our team has also advised on patent prosecution and trademark application matters in both the EU and US.

What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

When remote working was still in place as a result of the pandemic, it was challenging to maintain close relationships with other departments.

Has the increasing consciousness of climate change and sustainability affected your company and the team’s priorities, and if so, how?

It has changed the substance of some of the work that we do. For example, customers, suppliers and distributors flow down or pre-empt regulatory scrutiny on tenders or supply agreements. However, we have always been aware of climate change and sustainability and promote recycling, waste management, and being as close to paperless as possible.
