CBH Group
Earning over $3.5bn AUD annually, the CBH Group is Australia’s largest co-operative and a leader in the Australian grain industry. As general manager of legal and risk, David Woolfe holds ultimate responsibility for CBH’s legal, company secretarial, corporate governance and risk functions. Richard Codling has served the company since 2008 as group general counsel, and has a wealth of experience from his professional legal career which spans over two decades. Woolfe and Codling are supported by corporate lawyer Sarah Croft Parkinson who joined in 2014 and has acted for a number of Australian and multinational oil and gas and mining companies in relation to major asset acquisitions and disposals whilst working in private practice. The team has been instrumental in a number of key developments for CBH including helping the company reach a mutually agreeable outcome with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission following constructive discussions regarding its now discontinued Non Grain Express service. In the same year the team oversaw legal matters relating to a one year extension agreement to CBH’s interim access agreement with Brookfield Rail, an important deal which allows CBH to continue using Brookfield Rail lines whilst discussions for a long-term access agreement continues. In 2017 the legal function assisted the company in extending its partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service by five years, adding a further $750,000 AUD in funding to the previous agreement.
