What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?
Appetite for compliance matters, in general, and data privacy compliance, more particularly, is very limited in an industrial setting. Thus, in an environment which is undergoing digital transformation, it needs to be understood that data is like the ‘fuel’ of tomorrow’s (and to be honest: to a large extent today’s) industry. Constantly raising awareness where attention levels are naturally limited is my constant challenge.
Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
Almost no expense is related to using our own expertise for decomplexifying and explaining complex legal ideas.
What would you say are the unique qualities required to be successful as an in-house lawyer in your industry?
The legal function is a supporting function in any industry. Developing a feeling for the right spot to lodge regulatory or other legal requirements on a company’s agenda is crucial.
