What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

My team have been involved in big strategic commercial projects, managing the litigation docket with labour, tax, commercial, regulatory, environmental, and other natures. The team is also helping the business to implement the new long-term strategy by acting as co-creators of the business.

How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?

First, understand what the business wants from its legal team, and how the legal team will be involved at various levels of the company. Then, set up meetings with company leaders, department heads, and anyone else within the company who will typically need legal services. Relationships are built on communication. Therefore, an effective and clear communication can help to build the trust needed for strong relationships. That means, the legal team must provide regular updates on project status and other important matters, because this will show their commitment to providing excellent service.

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?

It is not possible to work with firms whose values are different from our company’s, because the way in which the result is achieved must follow the highest standards of integrity of our organisation. We would definitely reconsider firms based on how their values align with ours.
