What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

In recent times, the most significant activity in which our legal department actively participated, was the acquisition of Grupo BIG, previously Walmart in Brazil, by our company, Grupo Carrefour Brazil.

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?

In my opinion it is not only necessary, but fundamental, that our legal department only hires and works with law firms and external counsel, whose values align with those of our company. Additionally, in our particular strategy, the decision to hire a law firm takes into consideration its complete alignment with the company´s values and principles.

How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?

In-house lawyers must fully understand the business of the company, comprehend the needs of the business partners and bring out solutions with legal grounds.
