hat are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Ultragaz’s legal department is focused on making the company’s business viable, acting assertively and proactively with the company’s executives. The segments in which we operate are highly regulated and are undergoing a series of regulatory reviews, which requires constant updating of our professionals. We always seek to be close to our business partners, which includes not only the answers to queries sent to us, but also the concern to develop and apply training related to legal issues that permeate the day-to-day of our operation.
How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?
We count on the collaboration of a number of law firms, which support us, especially in judicial matters and in case studies that require greater depth. We look for partners that are aligned with our values and that have a good cost-benefit ratio, considering in this equation not only price, flexibility and assertiveness, but also technical excellence. We understand that such partners must be attentive to technological innovations, which allow good communication and assertiveness of information, so that we can meet the needs of the organization and our stakeholders.
As we live in a fast-paced world today, what skills will a corporate legal team need to succeed in the modern in-house industry?
Given the complexity of the current business environment and the speed that permeates it, we understand that the internal legal team must have not only technical-legal skills, but also negotiation techniques, communication assertiveness and, above all, versatility.
