With eight years’ life insurance experience across Asia Pacific, Michael Tropea has an impressive list of cross-border transactions and projects to his name. AIA Australia is among the nation’s leading life insurers and part of the world’s largest publicly-listed pan-Asian independent life insurance group. Sitting on the executive board, Tropea takes a central role in strategic business planning and all legal, company secretarial and governance. During his three years in the role, he has won respect as a manager and made significant changes to internal processes to optimise cost saving and efficiency. Tropea was associate general counsel for two years before his promotion, and was previously New York Life’s Asia regional counsel in Hong Kong. He has practised across Hong Kong and Australia at Baker & McKenzie, Allen & Overy and what is now King & Wood Mallesons.
